Privacy Policy

The short version

• We never receive your personal information. On iPhone and iPad, game records you choose to keep, including the pitcher names you type, stay on your devices and in your own iCloud account, which we cannot read.
• The app has no accounts, no ads, no tracking, and no advertising or analytics SDKs. Apart from asking the App Store or Google Play whether a newer version of the app exists, and, on iPhone and iPad, syncing your game records through your own iCloud account, it contacts only coachsigns.com and its subdomains: to download firmware updates, and to send the anonymous update counts described below.
• The app keeps the pairing details for your CoachSigns base on your device, and any game records on your devices and in your own iCloud. The only thing it sends us is anonymous update counts, which you can turn off.

What the app does

The CoachSigns app lets a coach pair and connect their phone or tablet to their CoachSigns base station — wirelessly or with a USB cable — and call signs to the team's player watches. The coaching controls run natively in the app. On iPhone and iPad it can also keep a record of the pitches a coach calls, with optional results, and turn them into game and pitcher reports.

Camera

The app does not use the camera. Earlier versions scanned a pairing QR code; pairing now happens by plugging your phone or tablet into the base with a USB cable, so nothing is ever photographed or scanned. No images, video, or scanned data ever leave your device — the app never captures any.

What the app stores

When you pair a base, the app saves a small pairing record for that base — its identity and name. On iPhone and iPad this goes in the iOS Keychain, Apple's secure on-device storage; if you have iCloud Keychain enabled, iOS syncs the record to your other Apple devices signed in to the same Apple ID. This syncing is handled entirely by iOS, not by us. On Android, the record is saved to the app's private storage on that device only and is never synced anywhere.

We never see, receive, or have access to any of this.

Game records (iPhone and iPad)

Starting with version 3.3.0, when Game Recording is on (Menu → Games), the app records each pitch you call: the pitch and location you sent, the time, the count if you use the count tile, and any result you add. It also keeps the games you start, with an optional opponent name, and the pitchers you add, by the name you type.

These records are stored on your device and, if you are signed in to iCloud, in your own private iCloud account, so they appear on your other iPhones and iPads. We cannot read them. Apple stores them under its iCloud terms and holds the keys to your iCloud data unless you have turned on Advanced Data Protection.

To erase them, open Menu → Games. You can erase one pitch, one game, one pitcher's records, or everything. An erase reaches iCloud and your other devices. Files you have already shared, and device backups made before the erase, are outside the app's reach.

If you share a game file or a report, it is in the hands of the person who receives it, including their own iCloud once they open it in CoachSigns.

The Android app does not record games.

Firmware updates

From time to time the app offers free firmware updates for your base and your player watches. When you choose to install one, the app downloads the update file from coachsigns.com and installs it on your base or transfers it to your watches. These downloads are anonymous — the app sends no personal information, no account, and no identifiers with the request.

Anonymous update counts

We only collect anonymous version and update information, with dates and random codes that cannot identify you. It helps us improve the update process for users.

Starting with version 3.2.1, the app sends anonymous update counts once when it starts: the app version; whether it runs on an Apple or Android device, and the major version of that device's operating system; the firmware versions of the bases and watches it has connected to; and whether updates succeeded, with a one-word reason, such as timeout, when one fails.

Each install has a random app-scoped identifier that is not linked to a person, a device identifier, or an account. Each base is counted under a code made from a random number the base picked for itself, so the same base is not counted twice. That code is not linked to a person either. The counts carry dates but never times of day, and for each base they include how many of its watches run each firmware version.

We do not store IP addresses; our hosting providers process them transiently to deliver the request.

Counts we have already received cannot be traced back to you, so we cannot find and delete them on request. They expire on a fixed schedule instead: update results after 13 months, an install's record 180 days after its last report, and a base's record 400 days after it was last seen.

Sharing is on unless you turn it off. To turn it off, go to Settings → Base and switch off Share anonymous update counts. That withdraws your consent: the app stops recording and sending, and it deletes the counts it has saved on your device. The app works the same either way.

What we do not collect

• No name, email, phone number, or any account information (the app has no account system). Pitcher names you type stay in your own game records.
• No crash reports, and no analytics beyond the anonymous update counts described above.
• No advertising identifiers, no tracking across apps or websites.
• No location data.
• No contacts, photos library, camera, microphone, or any other device data.

Children

The app is intended for adult coaches managing softball and baseball teams. On iPhone and iPad a coach can type the names of players, who may be children, into game records. Those records stay on the coach's devices and in the coach's own iCloud, and we never receive them. We do not collect personal data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change how the app handles data, we will update this page and update the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will also be reflected in the app's App Store and Google Play version notes.
