Privacy Policy

The CoachSigns iOS app is built so we never need to collect anything about you. This page explains exactly what the app does with the small amount of data it touches, and confirms what it does not do.

The short version

  • The app does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to us or any third party.
  • The app has no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs. The only server it ever contacts is coachsigns.com, and only to download firmware updates.
  • The only data the app handles is the pairing details for your CoachSigns base, which stay on your Apple devices.

What the app does

The CoachSigns app lets a coach pair and connect their iPhone or iPad to their CoachSigns base station — over Bluetooth, or a USB cable — and call signs to the team's player watches. The coaching controls run natively in the app. That is the entirety of the app's purpose.

Camera

When you pair a base, the app opens the camera so you can scan a QR code shown on the CoachSigns base's screen. The app reads the QR code entirely on your device. No images, video, or scanned data ever leave your device. The camera is used only while the pairing scanner is open, and is turned off as soon as the QR code is read or you dismiss the scanner. We do not store, upload, or share any photo or video.

What the app stores

When you pair a base, the app saves a small pairing record for that base — its identity and name — to the iOS Keychain, Apple's secure on-device storage. If you have iCloud Keychain enabled in your Apple device settings, iOS syncs this pairing record to your other Apple devices signed in to the same Apple ID, so they can connect to your base without pairing again. This syncing is handled entirely by iOS, not by us.

If your base uses its Wi-Fi connection as a fallback, the app also stores that base's Wi-Fi name and password in the Keychain. Unlike the pairing record, these Wi-Fi credentials are kept on that one device only and are never synced.

We never see, receive, or have access to any of this — it stays on your Apple devices.

Connecting to your base

The app connects to your CoachSigns base over Bluetooth or a USB cable. If neither is available, or during a firmware update, the app can fall back to the base's own Wi-Fi network. To do that it uses the standard NEHotspotConfiguration system API; iOS shows you its own prompt and manages the connection itself. The app never sees your other Wi-Fi networks, your location, or your network traffic.

Firmware updates

From time to time the app offers free firmware updates for your base station and player watches. When you choose to install one, the app downloads the update file from coachsigns.com and transfers it to your devices. These downloads are anonymous — the app sends no personal information, no account, and no identifiers with the request.

What we do not collect

  • No name, email, phone number, or any account information (the app has no account system).
  • No analytics, crash reports, or telemetry.
  • No advertising identifiers, no tracking across apps or websites.
  • No location data.
  • No contacts, photos library, microphone, or any other device data outside the camera-while-scanning use described above.

Children

The app is intended for adult coaches managing softball and baseball teams. It does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change how the app handles data, we will update this page and update the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will also be reflected in the app's App Store version notes.
